freaky weather
Thursday, January 18th, 2007what the heck is going on here? i turn on the news this morning and i see SNOW in MALIBU, california!! three inches worth of snow! have i mentioned that i’m talking about that white stuff? not the liquid stuff, but the white stuff! wow! well, it IS only 37 degrees outside and it’s 7:39 in the morning.
being awake at 7am has been weird for me - well, it wasn’t when i just arrived from paris the last time - and i did like waking up a lot earlier - but now, that’s hardly the case. i’m so hooked on the COLBERt REPORt - yeah, he doesn’t pronounce the T. but i love this guy! i love love LOVE his sarcasm.
hey. this is a good sign that i’m excited about something. feeling like shit for almost over a month and going through …
<< side note: jacques cousteau's grandson philippe is a cutey... they're interviewing him on the today show regarding the death of the crocodile hunter.>>
anyways .. what was i talking about?
OH YEAH!
welcome to my new website. i’m still learning how to use it, but it seems like i have to do more ‘code’ type stuff. at least i was able to put philippe’s picture up. it’s not as easy as a drag and drop or whatever, but i definitely feel like i have more control over this site than the other. besides, the other one has ALL of my info. i’ve changed the name too. random thoughts is still part of it, but i wanted to have one that encompassed my life. depression happen to have the biggest impact on my life and although this is suppose to be therapeutic, i am hoping that this helps someone get more understanding or to realize that they are not the only one.
in fact, i’m watching the today show and they are saying that more than half of depressed people are NOT getting help. one woman said that although she is able to function physically, emotionally, she’s a wreck. she says that a combo of meds, therapy, friends and her dog are helping her.
they are talking more about physical pain seen with depression - the mind/body connection. hmmm sounds like an advertisement for eli lilly! they have a new pill that tackles pain with depression.
they are talking about the stigma of depression. people say ‘STEP UP - you won’t be stigmatized’ but when one comes out and engages it, THEY ARE STIGMATIZED! i was lucky that i was somewhat working with doctors and nurses because at least they are educated on it.
it’s funny, when you have hypertension or diabetes, you just have that, but when you have depression then you’re considered ‘SICK.’ how is that? we only use the word sick in regards to having a flu or a cold. then there’s the other extreme end where one is practically dying - that’s considered sick too.
anyways, they say that about 9% of the population has it. unless i misunderstood that. i think it has to be higher.
anyways, if you are feeling hopelessness at the minimum, see a psychiatrist and at least have 3 sessions with a good therapist.
